As brutal heatwave continues to scorch multiple parts of North India, 5 deaths in Delhi have been reported in the last 72 hours. The victims died of heatstroke at three hospitals. Additionally, 10 people succumbed to the same cause in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida in the past 24 hours.
A total of 36 people were admitted in Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital after complaining of heat stroke. Additionally, three people died at Lok Nayak Hospital.
Patients, most above age 60, have been admitted at various hospitals and health clinics across the national capital with complaints of heat stroke, high fever and dehydration. It is reportedly said that the number of hospitalisation doubled in June compared to May.
The weather body said that Delhi and adjoining areas may experience some interim relief from blistering heatwave in the next 24 to 48 hours.
